AER's Aging Division June Watercooler
Join us for the Division on Aging's June Watercooler meeting! This discussion will explore the emerging connection between vision impairment and dementia, examining how vision loss may contribute to cognitive decline through reduced sensory stimulation, increased social isolation, and challenges with daily functioning. By integrating vision care into broader brain health strategies, public health can play a vital role in promoting aging with dignity and preserving quality of life. The session will also highlight available resources, share data on the prevalence and impact of vision loss, and identify opportunities to strengthen community support systems that help older adults remain engaged and independent.
