OIB-TAC Recently Completed Site Visits as part of Intensive Technical Assistance
The Older Individuals who are Blind Technical Assistance Center (OIB-TAC) recently completed site visits with two state agencies as part of intensive technical assistance.
OIB-TAC provides intensive technical assistance to three state agencies each year for the Older Individuals who are Blind (OIB) program. The intensive technical assistance consists of gathering information, development of a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats), identification of 3 to 5 opportunities for improvement, technical assistance on the selected opportunities for improvement, goal setting for making the improvements, and follow along to measure and guide the goal implementation.
The information gathering process includes the OIB-TAC learning about each state's program through a self-assessment, a review of recent 7-OB reports, and discussion groups with staff or contracting agencies and external stakeholders. During a site visit, the OIB-TAC helps finalize the SWOT, prioritize the opportunities, and explore goals to improve services.
Through intensive technical assistance with the OIB-TAC, the state receives an external perspective and support from a knowledgeable team to move toward best practices.
