Learn How to Teach VoiceOver with New OIB-TAC Course

An iPhone with the accessibility screen. VoiceOver shows as off.

VoiceOver on the iPhone: Where Do I Start? will focus on instructional aspects of teaching VoiceOver accessibility to individuals with vision loss who use an iPhone. It is geared toward service providers, family members, or volunteers who are teaching VoiceOver on iPhones. We are not teaching the technical aspects of VoiceOver, but the approach to teaching and building confidence with VoiceOver to an individual with vision loss.

In this course taught by Tim Richard, a Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist (CATIS), students will learn how to:

  • Describe an effective teaching sequence for clients first learning to use VoiceOver.
  • Assess when the client requires magnification, VoiceOver, or both.
  • Demonstrate effective approaches for building confidence when learning VoiceOver.

This course is available for 1 ACVREP and NBPCB credit.

Additional courses are provided through the OIB-TAC and the National Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision. See our family of websites for more information about blindness and low vision:
