In program evaluations with seniors, it seems like a small but reliable percentage of OIB consumers report having low vision aids and devices that they no longer use. It doesn’t work, doesn’t work well for them, or doesn’t do for them what they thought it would. This leaves us with the twofold problem of having equipment sitting idle and not being used, and also the consumer not having their needs met. Have most of you found this to be true? Have you found an innovative way for your agency to handle this? Especially with limited resources, are you finding ways to follow up with consumers on their equipment use?
