Dear OIB Program Managers:
Helen Keller National Center is pleased to post a Call for 2 OIB Managers! HKNC, in partnership with MSU OIB-TAC, invites you to attend and participate in the Confident Living Program (CLP) at our National Headquarters in Sands Point (Long Island) New York. Our goal is to provide you with a firsthand learning experience and opportunity to provide hands-on support to the older adults attending. With the knowledge and skills gained, you will have the tools and ability share and implement concepts of the program within your organization. It is the overall goal of HKNC and OIB-TAC for you and your staff to implement your own Confident Living Programs for seniors 55 and older who have combined vision and hearing loss.
How does this work? OIB Manager participants pay the cost of travel to and from HKNC upfront and then will be reimbursed after submitting an invoice post program. Travel does not include food or meals.
As an option, OIB Managers may appoint someone else to represent their state. This person must provide instruction or services to seniors through the OIB program and have the ability to share, develop, and implement a CLP within your state/organization.
Thank you for your considering the Confident Living Program for educating seniors who have combined vision and hearing loss and the professionals in your state who teach rehabilitation skills. Please contact Mark Armstrong at email@example.com or by cell phone at 516-269-9429 if you are interested in attending.
The October CLP is for seniors who are culturally deaf and blind or have low vision. Each participant uses ASL or TASL as their primary mode of communication. With this in mind, priority will be given to Program Managers, or their representative, who has the ability to use ASL/TASL.
